hmmmm interesting thought. I believe so cause once everyone breaks out their weapons it would be a free for all and I pity the aliens who would dare try mess things up

Definitely would not, I live around a lot of elderly folks who wouldn't be able to fend for themselves nor help. However, my folks are pretty crafty as well as my brother and I'm sure we'd come up with some crazy blasting off machine to destroy the alien or at least attempt to survive.
