"I minored in Math in college. When you take higher level Math courses, the numbers disappear, and it is all about using words to prove things. Using logic. Really teaches you how to think for yourself."

"English, because I am an English teacher and I say so! Disagree with me and I'll make you write an essay defending your position, but you won't be able to write a very good one if you don't have good English skills, so either way, I win."

"It's a tie between social studies (or civics) and personal finance. Social studies teaches one about their government and the citizen's tie to the government. The knowledge of how our government should work seems to be missing now in days. Personal finance is important b/c it teaches a person how to take care of their money on their own terms."

I believe Home Economics/Family Living because it teaches the basie life ethnics. Teaches you how to cook, sew, clean and even kind of teaches you how to deal with family. I would recommend this class to all the middle grade students.
Reading.. b/c that is the base for all other types of learning!! Plus I'm a teacher!!
Has to be English-- reading and writing. The better the student read and write, the more the kid can learn and the further they can go. It's a lifelong skill.
History because it always repeats itself...

My first thought is any type of English or literary class. My second thought is really any class that requires thought provoking discussion and writing. It's important for us to develop these types of skills to engage with others in a meaningful manner.
