Review by Matthew Schuchman
Avoiding trailers is a talent of mine. The less I know about a film before seeing it, the better. Savages‘, was a trailer I happened to catch however, and I was disappointed with what I saw. Luckily, Savages isn’t the 100% adrenaline-packed shoot ‘em up showstopper the trailer presents it as. A welcomed return for Oliver Stone as a fearless director, Savages benefits from not jumping head first into being an action-only film.
Making the perfect film is tough, if possible at all. The pitfalls of Savages are no different than the many films that garnered tremendous praise, and if you fixed them all, it still wouldn’t be a fantastic film. Nonetheless, Savages is worthy of your time and a triumph for Oliver Stone after some years of underwhelming films.

Trailer:

Oliver Stone is back in the directors chair to bring us a new action/ drug induced film.Savages is a good attempt to portray the Mexican cartel, and how savage they can be if you don't listen to what they say.The film tries to break up the action by telling us a story of love between 3 people.Overall the movie did a decent job of this, but I was still left wanting more suspense and for me this is where the film fell just short of a home run.A good attempt by Mr Stone after some other sub par movies. It is worth watching, just nothing to rave about!
