Here are the DVD releases scheduled for the week of October 30th, 2012:
The Campaign. Starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. In order to gain influence over their North Carolina district, two CEOs seize an opportunity to oust long-term congressman Cam Brady by putting up a rival candidate. Their man: naive Marty Huggins, director of the local Tourism Center.
Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis take on the political spectrum in this comedy. Not their best work, but worth a look.
Rosemary's Baby (Criterion Collection). Starring Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes. A young couple move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life.
A classic horror film is added to the Criterion pantheon with a score of extra features just in time for Halloween.
Ruby Sparks. Starring Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Annette Bening and Antonio Banderas. A novelist struggling with writer's block finds romance in a most unusual way: by creating a female character he thinks will love him, then willing her into existence.
At times humorous, poignant, and disturbing, this film asks the question "If you could change aspects of your partner, would you?" And if you did, would the result be for the better, or would it be a case of "Be careful what you wish for?"
Safety Not Guaranteed. Starring Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass and Jake Johnson. Three magazine employees head out on an assignment to interview a guy who placed a classified ad seeking a companion for time travel.
With a unique script, Aubrey Plaza from Parks and Recreation, and Jake Johnson from New Girl, you have all the ingredients of a great indie comedy.
Katie O'Shea and Jen Heiser are a real-life Statler and Waldorf, constantly expounding on the current state of pop culture. They have taken their opinions online where they run their own film and television review blog, Team Fog Reviews (www.teamfogreviews.com).
