Nationwide

    Prometheus
    Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
  • Prometheus - Tipping its hat to the Alien franchise is Prometheus, Ridley Scott's first sci-fi feature since 1982's Blade Runner. Whether or not you're familiar with the original Alien (or it's sequels and spinoffs) if you're a fan of science fiction, you'll likely highly enjoy this visually stunning and terrifying escape into the unknown. - FULL REVIEW
Featuring: Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green and Michael Fassbender
    • Plot: A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
  • Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted - The Zoosters are back in their latest adventure, this time traveling through several European countries evading a ruthless animal control officer by disguising themselves as circus animals. Sounds silly, and it is, but that’s the point, right? Predictable and outlandish, the entertainment is not for adults, it’s all for the kids, and in that regard, it succeeds. - FULL REVIEW
    • Featuring: Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith and Chris Rock
    • Plot: Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple. Their journey takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a traveling circus, which they reinvent - Madagascar style.

Prometheus

Tipping its hat to the Alien franchise is Prometheus, Ridley Scott's first sci-fi feature since 1982's Blade Runner. Whether or not you're familiar with the original Alien (or its sequels and spinoffs) if you're a fan of science fiction, you'll likely highly enjoy this visually stunning and terrifying escape into the unknown.

Two scientists make a discovery on Earth that leads to a mission to a galaxy far into space tracking down the origins of the human race. What they find is something that is detailed, but ultimately just vague enough to create very interesting discussions after your viewing.

The film is however, not without it's faults. Although I enjoyed most of the characters, there were a few that were too unbelievable as scientists. Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green, Devil) is arrogant and the relationship between Holloway and his partner and fellow scientist, Elizabeth Shaw is without chemistry. Shaw (Noomi Rapace star of the original films The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), although strong and emotional as she struggles with extreme situations, was still a bit too vulnerable. Having seen Charlize Theron recently in Snow White and the Huntsman, her character of Vickers should have been as cunning and ruthless as the Queen, but was instead too downplayed. The shining star is without question, David (Michael Fassbender, X-Men: First Class, Shame), an android whose intentions are wonderfully complex.

Prometheus

There's post-converted 3D and then there's filmed in 3D. What's the difference? Watch Prometheus and you'll see. The depth of field is exquisite having been carefully thought out and planned. No, there aren't things that jump out at the screen, but, wow, everything is so breathtakingly gorgeous. No, you don't need to see it in 3D to appreciate, but when a director actually gives it the attention it deserves, it needs to be acknowledged and is worth the extra money.

This is not a crowd-pleaser and it's not meant to be. It's a cautionary tale of searching for something that should probably be left alone. I highly recommend seeing the film, but don't expect to have all the answers when you leave, as the point is to raise questions rather than answer them.
