Film Series FYI: The Discreet Charm of George Cukor presented by The Film Society of Lincoln Center

Submitted by melissa on December 10, 2013 - 5:02pm

Many of the movies that I grew up with were from the talented Mr Cukor. Have you heard the term "gaslighting" someone? It came from the movie Gaslight starring Ingrid Bergman and a young Angela Lansbury (Murder, She Wrote). I won't ruin it for you, just go see it. The fantastic comedy The Philadelphia Story with Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart is the gold standard of comedy.

Any transplants new to New York should see the Judy Holliday/Jack Lemmon tale of fame, It Should Happen To You. You also have the opportunity to see great (Katherine) Hepburn/(Spencer) Tracy action in Adam's Rib and one of my personal favorites, Pat and Mike. Marilyn Monroe, you ask? How about Let's Make Love.
