Another odd couple of weeks for free films as we have several schools going on or coming off of Spring Break and then we hit Easter week. But there are some good offerings to help you relax.

Check out the top notch films at Emerson's Bright Lights Film Series and BU's Cinematheque (both will have filmmakers at their upcoming screenings). Brandeis is hosting a couple of films, including one with a 98 year old Holocaust survivor on hand.

And join Vinfen for their Moving Images Film Festival on the 23rd. Interesting movies and they do take good care of their audience. And, on Easter Weekend, Harvard will be hosting Imagining the Ineffable: Representation and Reality in Religion and Film Conference with some of the screenings free and free tickets available for others. I'll tweet updates as I learn more.

And the next two Fridays are the last days of free IMAX movies at the Museum of Science. Go and catch a couple while you can.

March is kinda funky. Most of the schools go on spring break, so that means some interruptions of the old standbys. But we also get some new flavor – like the Women Take the Reel Film Festival that hits many of the campuses around town and the Icelandic Film Festival which shows three Icelandic films (for free!).

Once we get through this stretch in March, we will see a bunch of movie events crammed tight as everyone tries to spend their budgets before the school year ends.

No more cracks about good weather, okay? Here's to hoping the rest of the winter takes it easy on us. We can't have any more canceled events or stranded filmmakers.

We will be building up momentum this month as we hurdle toward spring. Lots of good events (like Free Film Fridays at the Museum of Science and the Redstone Film Festival at BU) and more to come (check out the Vinfen Film Festival coming in late March). The next two weeks promise several filmmakers coming to show their work; go out and support them.

I'll continue to be here behind the keyboard. Enjoy.

This will be the last couple of weeks of empty campuses. By February 1st, everybody will be back in town and we'll have films coming out our ears. Assuming we can avoid massive snowstorms, we'll have filmmakers galore other special guests.

Enjoy!
